Hockey

Thunder Bay is known around the world as a hockey town. We are the birthplace of more professional players per capita than any other city and we have a history of producing champions.

Catch a game

Head to the Fort William Gardens and cheer on the home teams. The Lakehead Thunderwolves and the Thunder Bay North Stars both call the arena home.

Or head to the nearby NorWest Arena, home of the Kam River Fighting Walleye, the newest team in the Superior International Junior Hockey League playing out of the rink that was the home of the Staal Brothers.

Find a rink

Lace up your skates, grab a stick and hit one of the city's many outdoor rinks to play a game. Most outdoor rinks allow hockey with one notable exception: the pond rink at Prince Arthur's Landing which is skating only.

Championships and tournaments

The city hosts many regional, national and international hockey tournaments and championships each year.
