Municipal Accommodation Tax
The Municipal Accommodation Tax is a new revenue tool to promote tourism in the City of Thunder Bay. The objective is to develop tourism opportunities that will attract more visitors, like you, to the city.
Effective September 1, 2018, guests booking accommodations within the City of Thunder Bay will be charged a Municipal Accommodation Tax at a rate of 4%. To Guests booking accommodations within the City of Thunder Bay will be charged a Municipal Accommodation Tax at a rate of 5%. Proceeds from this fund are invested into the tourism economy and for building sports events.
