Cambrian Players will be holding their first round of auditions for their play “Romeo and Juliet” for those over 18 from July 31st –August 2nd at their Victoria Avenue studio. Joyce Seppala is one of 17 texile artists chosen to be apart of a show honouring traditional and contemporary Finish and Sami inspired textiles. She would like to invite you down to the Tweed Museum of Art at the University of Minnesota in Duluth until October 5 to view her work. On August 15-17th, join in the celebration of Aboriginal cultures as Fort William Historical Park and Nishnawbe Aski Nation stage Anishnawbe Keeshigun Native Festival. Situated at the Fort’s amphitheatre, the colourful festival features a competition Pow Wow in addition to traditional dancing, singing and drumming. Popular Northern Cree Drum is the host drum and Little Bear Singers is the co-host drum. Headlining the entertainment is renowned Inuk singer/songwriter Susan Aglukark, along with Eagle and Hawk, C-Weed, The Asham Stompers and TV Chief David Wolfman. Friday features a free corn roast. Get involved in a variety of games, activities and demonstrations. Admission is free for the entire weekend. In 2007, Anishnawbe Keeshingun became the largest First Nations festival held at Fort William Historical Park and in Northwestern Ontario. Be sure to join in the festivities.
